Sudeep is considered to be one of the main pillars of Hindi literature, journalism and ‘Samaantar’ parallel literary movement of India. He is the author of four short-story collections, three novels, four biographies and one memoir. Nearly sixty short stories by him have been published in various Indian magazines and book anthologies.
Many of his works are translated into English, Malayalam, Punjabi, Marathi and other languages. His creative heritage also includes hindi translation novels of half a dozen Punjabi books.
During his editorial and journalistic career in India’s magazines Dharmayug, Sarika, Ravivar, Current, Sunday-Mail, Chic, Shri Varsha, Amar Ujjala, Screen and Hamara Mahanagar, Sudeep penned and published two thousand articles. In 2000, the Mumbai Press Club honoured Sudeep with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his immense journalistic contribution.
For Indian films and TV series, Sudeep wrote dialogues, scripts, screenplays, short stories– and many even received National Awards such as 'Ankur, Maina Aur Kabootar' in 1990 won India's Best Children's Film Award and Jamnalal Bajaj's biographical film 'Kathni Karni Ek Si' won the Indian Best Historical Entertainment Film Award.
