My name is Kirill Klevanski. I was born in St. Petersburg.
I have always loved fantasy worlds and magical creatures, so one day I found myself writing a fantasy novel.
My writing career began when I was eighteen. I easily got my first contract with a publishing agency. I wrote 4 books for that series and then I got bored. The publisher didn't like it.
At the age of twenty, I suddenly found myself among the most popular CIS fanfic authors. My Harry Potter fanfic got over 1,000,000 hits in less than seven months.
At the age of 22 I was a "real author" with my own printed book series. Blah, blah, blah...
Was I really successful?
Come on! It would have been just another boring and unbelievable story!
All the top publishers in the CIS had banned me from literary events and wouldn't work with me.
Forever.
...I was only twenty-three, but my literary career had collapsed and been buried...
"Ha-ha! Go cry to your mummy," someone said.
No, thanks. His mum was my number one fan.
The internet gave us freedom. And so, thanks to the Internet, I continued to write and self-publish my works on many book sites.
More and more, book by book, I used every free minute I had to create new fantasy worlds. Some of my books became quite popular, while others were... just a bit awful.
At one point I stopped writing.
I wasn't as successful as I had dreamed. Instead, I got my degree. I worked as a history teacher.
