This book is designed to guide a postgraduate student of Orthopedics to reach a (differential) diagnosis through clinical methods. It explains history taking, clinical examination, and execution of tests in special situations in a clear and comprehensible manner. The standard textbooks for orthopedics usually do not elaborate the clinical examination and this book is an attempt to fill this gap. The presently available clinical examination books provide insufficient understanding of the clinical concepts. They are more or less a compilation of various tests which the student is expected to cram before the exam.

Dr Alok Sud, MS, Commonwealth Fellow RHSC, Edinburgh, is Director Professor & Unit Head, Department of Orthopedics, Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi. He is a well-known orthopedic surgeon having more than 25 years of teaching experience. He has published more than 35 papers in national and international journals. He has been a scholar and was selected for the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship in 2011–12. He is a Section Editor (Pediatric Orthopedics) for the Indian Journal of Orthopedics (IJO) and a Deputy Editor (Pediatric Orthopedics) for Journal of Clinical Orthopedics and Trauma (JCOT). He is also a reviewer for pediatric orthopedics in several national and international journals. Dr Sud is a life member of Delhi Orthopedic Association, Indian Orthopedic Association, Indian Society for Surgery of Hand, ASAMI, and Fellow of International College of Surgeons. His vast experience as a teacher, clinician, and examiner has helped shape this book which is indispensable for any student of orthopedics.
