Swarupa Mitra, MD, is a Radiation Oncologist working as a Senior Consultant and Chief, Gynecological and Genitourinary Radiation Oncology, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre, New Delhi, India. She has a vast teaching experience and has been an invited faculty at various national and international forums, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). She has facilitated many research projects in Oncology, some of them as a Principal Investigator with Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). She has many papers published in national and international journals and has authored several oncology texts. She was a nominated member of Project Advisory Committee for Health Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Dr. Mitra is passionately involved in spreading awareness about cancer prevention and its early detection among people, through various public lectures, documentaries, and workshops. She played a key role in establishing the Rural Cancer Centre in Haryana, India, in 2005.
