First published in 1923, ‘Bambi’ is an Austrian coming-of-age novel written by Felix Salten, an Austro-Hungarian author and literary critic in Vienna.
This is an enchanting story of a deer in the forest. Bambi’s life in the woods begins cheerfully with its mother, other forest animals to play with, and cousins, Gobo and beautiful Faline. But winter comes, and Bambi learns that the woods hold danger and snow makes food difficult to find. Bambi's father, a handsome stag, roams the forest but leaves Bambi and his mother alone. Man comes to the forest with weapons that can wound an animal.
Though Bambi fears for his life and the well-being of his friends and family, nothing, not even Man, can stop him from growing to become a mighty Prince of the Forest. This charming and timeless children’s story would make for perfect bedtime reading.
