This work brought out initially in 1889, consists of fragments from The Book of the Golden Precepts, selected for the daily use of Lanoos (Disciples). The precepts were translated and annotated by H. P. Blavatsky. The book has three fragments named The Voice of the Silence, The Two Paths and The Seven Portals respectively. Of the total of 316 precepts, 100 are in the first fragment, 95 in the second and 121 in the third. A detailed glossary for each of three fragments greatly facilitates its study. Over the years, this book has become of the three classic theosophical handbooks for the aspirant on the Spiritual Path, the other two being At the feet of the Master and Light on the Path.
