Sushila Tripathi was born on 8th May 1947 in village Mehnauli, located in Shohratgarh tehsil of Siddharthnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, India. She completed her M.A. and B.Ed degrees from Meerut University and D.M.R (Diploma in Mental Retardation) from Delhi. She was a teacher by profession and retired from service in 2007. She began writing poetry in school. Over the years, she participated in various Kavi Sammelans, reciting her poems in the presence of prominent Hindi poets. After marriage, though her family took precedence, she continued to write whenever possible. During her retirement, she has been writing with renewed fervor with the intention of getting her collection published some day. All those years of quiet work have come to fruition in the form of this collection of 114 poems titled ‘Sparsh’. Her work has received praise from well-respected reviewers; including her Guru, who said: “Sarastaevambhavatmakta se otprotinkegeetonmein ek anoothipravahpoorngatimaytahai” (“Steeped in beauty and passion, her songs have a rare flow and dynamic quality”.)
