Leon Kleiner is a retired commercial and residential real estate developer from New Jersey. He was born in the city of Tarnopol, Poland just a little over a decade before the beginning World War 2. After the war, the city became a part of the Ukraine and still is today. Leon's early life before and during the war is documented in this book. He miraculously survived the Holocaust and immigrated to America in 1947 where he married his wife, Halina, who is also a survivor of the Holocaust. They met in a displaced persons camp in Austria in 1945. He and his brother worked hard to save up enough money to invest in a real estate company that was benefiting from the post-war housing boom. In 1964, he moved from New York to New Jersey where he formed a new real estate company with his brother. Their business grew and prospered over the following years. Now in his nineties, he is enjoying retirement with Halina. They are the proud parents of two daughters. They also had a son who was tragically lost to cancer in his early twenties. His daughters have given them five grandchildren and they just recently welcomed their first great grandson.
