Tamoghna was born and brought up in a middle class family in north Kolkata, India. As a school student he loved to spend time in implementing his own ideas of some science project. However, he rarely used to buy any item or kit from the market for his projects. He rather used scrapped old household items from the storeroom in the backyard of his house. As he grew up, his project ideas became complex. For example, a solar cooker with concave mirror to focus sun rays where the mirror changes its direction according to the sun, without using a motor. He realized the significance of Mathematics for the precision required to transform ideas to reality. Over time he developed a passion for Mathematics and eventually decided to pursue further study in Mathematics. He completed masters in Mathematics from Ballygunge Science College, University of Calcutta with a specialization in Mathematical modelling and later completed master’s in computer science from Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata. During his masters at ISI he got an opportunity for an internship at Microsoft Research(MSR) India. After graduating from ISI, he worked at MSR for three and half years, as a research assistant. There he got opportunity to work closely with many world renowned researchers. He was introduced to applied machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) at this stage of his career. He realized that this area is very close to his passion of applying Mathematical models for solving practical real word problems. Tamoghna is presently AI Software Solution Engineer in Client Computing Group a... See more
