This book is a collection of Jaun Elia's unpublished works, filled with new themes and fresh meanings. Efforts have been made in this book to preserve his unpublished poems for the readers. Jaun Elia was born in 1931 in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, into a learned family. His father, Syed Shafiq Hasan Elia, was a poor poet and scholar. Jaun's early education took place in Amroha's madrasas, where he learned Urdu, Arabic, and Persian. He was never interested in textbooks and often failed his exams. As he grew older, he developed an interest in Philosophy. He earned Master's degrees in Urdu, Persian, and Philosophy. He also knew English, Pahlavi, Hebrew, Sanskrit, and French. In his youth, he was drawn to communism. After the partition, his elder brother moved to Pakistan. After the death of his parents, Jaun Elia had to go to Pakistan in 1956, though reluctantly, and throughout his life, he remembered Amroha and India.
