‘Gussadi – Celebration of Being God’ compiled by International Award winning Filmmaker Jennifer Alphonse, is jointly presented by The District Collector of Adilabad and ITDA, Utnoor The evocative collection of photographs, depicts the centuries old traditional rites associated with Gussadi/Dandari festival. The festival celebrated by Gonds, Kolams, Thotis and Pardhan tribes of Adilabad (India) is an amalgamation of mythic history, invocation of Gods, enchanting dances, songs and prayers for protection of their crops and more. Filmmaker Jennifer Alphonse is been researching on this tribe from 2014 for her Documentary film with the same Title “Gussadi – Celebration of being God”, she and her team have trekked to some of the most isolated places in Adilabad to document the tribal cultures, ancient traditions and artistic heritage of these tribes. The intension behind making this photographic documentation is to ensure that the legacy of Gussadi and its ancient traditions is preserved in these photographs and stories for the coming generations.The Funds received from the book sale will directly go to the tribes, to help them pursue their age old arts and crafts.
