"The term ""water pollution,"" sometimes known as ""aquatic pollution,"" refers to the contaminating effects of human activity on bodies of water that adversely affect the uses of the bodies of water, Lakes, rivers, seas, aquifers, reservoirs, and groundwater are examples of bodies of water. When pollutants interact with these water bodies, water pollution occurs. There are four primary sources of contaminants: storm water runoff from metropolitan areas, industrial processes, agricultural practices, and sewage discharges. There are two types of water contamination: groundwater pollution and surface water pollution. When people utilize dirty water for irrigation or drinking, it can lead to a variety of issues, including the destruction of aquatic ecosystems and the spread of diseases. Conventional wastewater treatment methods will have difficulties in eliminating these additional water pollutants. Therefore, in order to guarantee the removal of these water contaminants, their mineralization, and the preservation of drinking water and aquatic environments for future generations, it is imperative that new and more effective water cleaning technologies be developed and studied. AOP, or advanced oxidation process, is a promising method that uses reactive oxygen species to break down organic pollutants.
