In November 2009, she was selected as a Young Leader by Asia 21 and attended the Asia Society Leadership Summit in Malaysia. In March 2011, she received the Asia 21 Fellowship from the Asia Society New York, being the only Indian fellow that year. In May 2011, Vinita was among 30 global journalists awarded a scholarship to attend a study program at the European Journalism Institute, Charles University in Prague. In March 2014, she received a full scholarship grant from The Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at Ateneo de Manila University, recognising her commitment to journalism and leadership potential. In 2024, she was honoured with the 15th GCU International Award on Women’s Day, celebrating women achievers in Karnataka. Vinita has produced, anchored and done research for both national and international TV programs. She has done projects for Doordarshan, BBC, ITV, and Channel 4 UK. She lectures on women's rights, newsroom ethics, Indian media, and youth issues, and volunteers as a media consultant to NGOs. Vinita lives in Bangalore and enjoys pottery, writing stories for children, horse riding, photography, adventure sports, and travelling.
