Dutch Heritage in Fort Cochin (today's Kochi) is an in-depth study of the Dutch presence in Fort Cochin (1663-1795). Also two smaller forts on the Malabar Coast are described, Cannanore (Kannur) and Quilon (Kollam). All are to be visited as a reminder of the colonial past.Fort Cochin though is the best-preserved fort in India of the (Dutch) United East India Company which is best known by its acronym VOC (Verenigde Oostindische Compagnie). The VOC had settlements for almost two hundred years all along the Indian coastline, from Gujarat to Bengal.
