Mona Lisa Jena started her career as a lecturer and worked as a journalist with an English daily published from Odisha. She is now a full time writer, specializing in poetry, short stories, novels, travel and forest related articles, and also doing translations from Assamese into Odiya and from Odiya to English.
Mona Lisa Jena has published seventeen books so far, which include two books of Poetry in Odiya, Nisarga Dhwani and E Sabu Dhrubamuhurta and a short story collection titled, Indramalatira Shoka in Odiya. Besides, she has written a literary bio profile of renowned Odiya poet,Ramakanta Rath and published six books of translated works from Assamese.She has also authored a book on journalism. Her translations have appeared frequently in Indian Literature.
Mona Lisa Jena has edited and translated sixteen contemporary Odiya short stories into English and these have been published by Harper Collins in a book titled, "Dasuram's Script", which is also available on Amazon as an e-book.
